Advanced Energy Rebuild Program & Net Zero Home Tour

Join Hammond and Company, Gilleran Energy Management, and Synergy Solar to see the results of a close collaboration in a fire rebuild project targeted to hit net Zero +. These building professionals worked closely together with Brett Collins Design and their clients to create this high performance home through design optimization, iterative energy modeling and an elegant solar & battery system integration.

These efforts resulted in a home that would fully comply with the soon to be required 2019 State Energy Code.

Please carpool if possible.

Proceeds from this event support USGBC Redwood Empire Chapter. If funds would prevent you from attending please contact us.

Key Features for Net Zero Project

Design + Construction team collaboration

Hammond & Company operated under a pre-construction services agreement from schematic
design onward for design optimization and targeted budget development.

Iterative design development w/ integrated energy analysis

Gilleran Energy management brought on to model performance targets and iterations, as well
as HERS rating / Cal Green documentation. GEM illustrated energy performance and
established results of early phase energy design assumptions as a baseline to work toward the
Net Zero target. The owners specific energy needs, including electric vehicle, were all modeled
for 2020 title 24 energy requirements and Cal Green changest.

Photo Electric System

Synergy Solar brought in to allow client to understand the costs &
benefits of integrating the solar electric system with a battery backup system instead of a
backup generator. Key points to a successful solar installation were right sizing of energy loads,
understanding cost and capabilities of battery system.

Key design optimization targets

OVE framing / Right sizing of windows and exterior doors / complete exterior air sealing /
Insulation at roof slope with all mechanical inside conditioned space / Heap pump water heater /
Durability focused and fire hardened exterior

Construction Phase Evaluations

Building field verification and performance testing to ensure design implemented through to
occupancy
